Scheduling helps you decide which resource should perform each production operation and when. It turns the orders to complete into a schedule that the workshop can use.
Available scheduling functions depend on the extensions enabled in your Bonx workspace. Contact your administrator if the machine schedule is not available.

Difference between planning and scheduling

Prerequisites

Before calculating a schedule, check:
  • the manufacturing orders to complete and their due dates;
  • the process steps to schedule;
  • compatible machines or machine groups;
  • expected operation durations;
  • opening hours and calendar exceptions; and
  • operations that are already launched or assigned in the schedule.

Build the schedule

1

Load the operations

Display pending operations and check their quantity, duration and due date.
2

Check resources

Confirm the compatible machines and their opening slots.
3

Calculate the schedule

Run the calculation to propose a machine, start date and end date for each compatible operation.
4

Handle exceptions

Review unplaced, late or unassigned operations, then correct their data or assignment.
5

Adjust and track

Change the assignment of priority operations, then compare the schedule with actual start and completion times.
A schedule remains a forecast. Update it when priorities, quantities, machine availability or actual progress changes.

Plan requirements

First determine the required manufacturing orders.

Track production

Move orders forward and record their completion.
