In Italy, electronic invoices go through the Sistema di Interscambio (SDI). The XML FatturaPA file is the official invoice. The PDF is only a readable copy.

Generated format

Bonx generates a FatturaPA FPR12 file. It follows the SDI naming rules and is validated with the official Agenzia delle Entrate schema. The issuing establishment’s country determines the format. An Italian establishment generates FatturaPA. A French establishment generates Factur-X.

Generate FatturaPA

1

Request issue

Start validation from the invoice draft.
2

Bonx checks and issues the invoice

Bonx checks mandatory fields, the FatturaPA schema and SDI rules. Examples include a Natura code for 0% VAT, a PEC address when there is no recipient code, a 5-digit CAP and the customer’s tax identity. When the data is compliant, Bonx assigns the legal number and stores an immutable copy of the invoice.
3

Bonx generates the XML

Bonx creates the file on demand, validates it again and stores it with its hash before download.
If text exceeds a FatturaPA size limit, Bonx adapts it and displays a warning without blocking validation.

Required data

  • Company: name, partita IVA, codice fiscale, regime fiscale (RF01 to RF20), province and a 5-digit CAP.
  • Customer: codice fiscale or VAT number, plus codice destinatario. An Italian customer without a recipient code must have a PEC address.
  • VAT: the matching Natura code for each 0% rate. It follows the sales tax rule set in the accounting settings for the customer’s tax regime and the line’s rate (reverse charge N6.9, intra-EU supply N3.2, export N3.1…), along with its legal reference. Without a rule, a 0% rate is declared exempt (N4).
For a foreign customer, Bonx uses the generic code expected by SDI.

Document types

Bonx handles invoices, deposits, balances, credit notes and debit notes. The XML contains the matching TipoDocumento code and references to related documents. Pro forma invoices cannot be issued.
